Lifevac choking emergency device is a new product available to first aiders. Choking is a life threatening emergency which can be easily treated with a mix of five back slaps and five abdominal thrusts which are then repeated. In most cases this is very successful but what do you do if the patient does not start breathing and the obstruction is still there?
LifeVac is a non-powered single patient portable suction apparatus developed for resuscitating a choking victim when standard ACLS protocol has been followed without success. To accomidate different ages, the unit comes with two mask sizes.
LifeVac is designed with a patented valve to prevent any air from exiting through the mask. This patented designed valve prevents air from pushing food or objects downward. This creates a one-way suction to remove the lodged food or object.
The negative pressure generated by the force of the suction is 3 times greater than the highest recorded choke pressure. The unit is very easy to use and it generates over 300 mmhg of suction. The duration of suction is minimal so LifeVac is safe and effective. Lifevac is available from ITG Supplies or ProTrainings.
